[news] Superstar K’s Euna Kim releases project album produced by MFBTY

Image

On May 23rd, former Superstar K contestant, Euna Kim, will release her first album, which was produced by MFBTY.

On May 19th, Kim’s label, Music K Entertainment, announced that the project album “Love Me Love,” will be released on the May 23rd. Tiger JK stated that upon hearing Euna Kim rap, he requested to be her mentor and came up with the project album idea. MFBTY gave Kim an abundance of support and featured on her title track “이젠 너 없어도 (Without You Now).”

The Music Video is said to be of a dramatic, movie like concept where a timid & shy girl performs in front of a large crowd, showing her hidden talent and dancing with her wings. Tiger JK, Yoon MiRae and Bizzy feature as cameos in the music video clip, which was produced by producer Lumpens, who has also worked with Lee Hyo Ri and the legendary Jo Yong Pil. With the star studded line up along with a visually creative producer, it is anticipated to be a huge hit.

Tiger JK praised Euna Kim by saying that he really wanted to work with her musically, and that Euna Kim reminded him of a younger Yoon MiRae. Yoon MiRae also praised her saying, “There are infinite possibilities with Euna, I’ve been watching her very closely ever since I was on the judging panel on Super Star K.”

“이젠 너 없이도 –  Without You Now,” is a song which depicts couples that have been together for a long time whom continue on a cycle of meeting, breaking up, and making up. The song also expresses disappointment each other as time goes by in a candid way. Produced, directed and composed by Tiger JK, “Without You Now,” contrasts Euna Kim’s unique rapping along with the melodic, sentimental voice of Yoon MiRae.

The project album, “Love Me Love,” will be released in all major online music stores on May 23rd at 12PM. Music K Entertainment will released a teaser of the music video on the 20th via their YouTube channel.

Friends and Fans Come Together for Massive Birthday Card for Bizzy (Happy Birthday, B!)

Image

Over the past few weeks, all three international MFBTY fanbases (DrunkenCamp.com, DrunkenTiger Brasil, and BizzyBTBT) have been secretly planning a massive birthday gift for Bizzy. Limited by distance and funds, planning a great birthday gift posed a challenge. However, we pooled together our sources to create a massive video e-card signed by Bizzy’s fans, friends, and celeb colleagues.

We searched through our Twitter followers and Facebook friends, selecting active fans at random to write a wish. We further reached out to Feel Ghood/Drunken Tiger fam that we knew, and the enthusiasm from both fans and friends was amazing. Amongst the respondents are MFBTY DJ Smells, Sean2Slow, Insane Deegie, Styliztik Jones, Ann, and Kim Jo Han.

We thank EVERYONE who submitted wishes. For those who sent in photos, pay attention to the background of your wish. We made it more personalized and special!

Bizzy, we know you’re reading this, so I hope you enjoy this gift from us. Have an AMAZING day today. We love you!

Happy 1 year anniversary, MFBTY! Looking Back On Our First Year…

Image

January 21st, 2014 – Today marks a full year since Bizzy, Tiger JK, and Yoon MiRae collaborated to form the group, MFBTY (My Fans [are] Better Than Yours). The collaboration was initially a temporary project, but unofficially became their stage moniker as the three artists continue to perform together to this day. Although the release of Drunken Tiger’s 9th album, “The Cure,” rebranded the three as solo artists again, fans still recognize the three as their collaborative name. They are definitely here to stay, so let’s look back on the past year’s moments that made an imprint in our minds.

01/21/13 – MFBTY officially debuts with “Sweet Dream” digital EP

Image

This day marked the official debut of the group and the release of their first EP record, “Sweet Dream.” Since only a limited amount of EPs were actually printed, the majority of the promo was online via their music video produced by Lumpens. “Sweet Dreams” release also featured the debut of their new DJ, Smellz, who specializes in a mix of hip-hop, house, and other club style music.

01/27/2013  MFBTY Invited to France to rep Korean hip-hop

midem-2013-1

One of the world’s largest music industry conference’s, MIDEM, invited MFBTY to represent Korean hip-hop for the global music community. In a rare instance, we got to see the three become “industry panelists” and answer an open Q&A with attendees. We also saw Bizzy bust out his French, and Tiger revealing how die-hard of a shopper Tasha is.

07/23/13 – MFBTY leaves Jungle Entertainment to form Feel Ghood Music

jkprisonbreak

After 6 years with self-made label, Jungle Entertainment, MFBTY left the label to form their own independent label, Feel Ghood Music. Unlike in his former label, Tiger JK gave himself full executive power and staffed his company with mainly his most trusted family and peers. The reasons for their leave from Jungle are still unofficially stated, but when asked recently about it, JK simply replied, “The music industry is shady.”

07/25/2013 – Performing for Quincy Jones

quincyjonesmfbty

Legendary song writer and multi-grammy award winner, Quincy Jones, held a special concert in Korea to celebrate his 80th birthday. Amongst the guest performers were MFBTY, whom he previously praised when he met them in 2011. This was their first performance after announcing the opening of Feel Ghood Music.

09/11/2013 – MFBTY redebuts under Drunken Tiger with Yoon MiRae & Bizzy at Google Play Concert

google concert

Technology has made it possible to put on the most unique concerts. Thanks to Google, the September Beyond KPOP concert made it possible for fans to be at a live show without actually being there. Hundreds of MFBTY loyalists woke up at 5AM EST just to make sure MFBTY would see their faces on the live screen during the show.

09/13/2013 – DT 9th album, “The Cure,” drops

20130923-154649.jpg

How does an album have virtually no mainstream promotion and still make it to the #1 on five major music downloading sites? Claim it as Drunken Tiger’s 9th album (after 4 years), add Yoon MiRae and Bizzy, and the byproduct is magic. This record was a complete 180 from past Drunken Tiger albums: chill, sentimental, simple. However, its overall message is what makes this album one of the top DT albums ever released. The album was a sudden project that was inspired by JK’s father, Suh Byung Hoo, who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer two months prior to the release. JK had searched for the one inspirational moment for him to drop an album, and this was it. The lyrics to the title single, “The Cure,” encourages those physically and emotionally down to pick up their strength and keep going.  Since the group was also starting as a fresh independent label, this was a metaphorical message for themselves that they could overcome the struggles that many new indie labels endure.

11/17/2013 – Kollaboration Star makes MFBTY’s first US performance official

camp34

The trio has performed in the US before, but only as solo artists. Kollaboration Star, which showcases rising US Asian-American talent, invited MFBTY to be their guest celebrity performers in November. In a unique twist, MFBTY was given an hour or so long set, performing new and classic songs with their full band. Only fans in Korea are given that privilege, and even then, it’s sparse. Other performers who joined them on stage were David Choi and “Jetpack” feature, Styliztik Jones. This was the first time that they performed non-single songs from the 9th album, such as “Time Travel.” Their LA trip also led to many international opportunities, such as the invite from FuseTV for an interview.

There were other great moments in this past year, but these were the biggest moments that did it for me. Happy 1 year, fam.

[video] In case you missed it: MFBTY interview on MNET’s Danny in LA

During their week in LA, MFBTY stopped by MNET’s “Danny From LA” for a brief chat with hosts, Danny Im and Dumbfoundead. Danny and Tiger reminisce about when they were both performing in the 90s (Danny when he was in 1TYM, Tiger JK as part of the group, Drunken Tiger). The two were ironically intimidated by each other. For the impatient, you can fast forward to 17:40 to get straight into the interview.

P.S. The intro segment of Dumbfoundead trying to teach Danny how to rap is classic.

[photos/video] Drunken Tiger, Yoon MiRae, Bizzy at Kollaboration Star

camp21

November 16th, 2013 – Approximately 2 years since MFBTY crew has rocked a US show. Given the rarity the crew do shows in the US, there’s always some nervousness about how the show will go, the turn out, how fans will react. The legacy of Tiger JK is 20 years old, Drunken Tiger 14 years, Tasha 16 years, and Bizzy, the youngest… at 9 years. Most artists are lucky to stay relevant more than 2 years in the industry, but even over such a long period of time, the 3 are able to bring over 2500 people together for a show.

Kollaboration traditionally is a celebration of Asian-Americans in entertainment. Kollaboration Star focused on bringing together the show’s best performers from across the country. While the finalists brought a number of their own following, there was no doubt an overwhelming Drunken fan presence in the audience. Given Tiger’s long musical history, the age group spanned from fans in their teens and into their 30s. Both were equally filled with excitement, some waiting nearly 14 years to see Tiger perform live.

A week before the show, the crew hinted in on Twitter of a set consisting of old school classics and new songs. However, no one could have expected a DT2 classic, “Drunken Symphony,” to be the intro to the set. Bizzy and Tiger then took us 8 years forward, doing a small rendition of “내눈을 쳐다봐,” from the album.

The crew admitted that they rehearsed religiously for a month straight. Although they had 3 full rehearsals at the venue as well, they were filled with nerves. A personal twist was them doing almost the entire audience interaction in English, a treat for the most multiracial audience they have had Stateside. There is so much to rave about this whopping 2 hour and 20 minute set, including a surprise guest performance by Styliztik Jones on “Jet Pack,” an attempted new song over a Snoop Dogg instrumental, a guest collaboration with David Choi for the reggae version of “The Cure,” and the first time the crew did “첫눈이 오면 설레었던 꼬마아이 (Time Travel)” live. However, only the photos and the videos can speak to that.

P.S. The show was followed by a private meet and greet for fans who paid for the limited $200 Ultimate Fan package.
