[Op-Ed] Why We Have To Talk About MFBTY’s Outfits At Unforgettable2014

They may have taken the stage for only 10 minutes, but their look stole the show for weeks. MFBTY have long been fashion icons, but we are thoroughly enjoying the edgy look done for the night by new stylist, Eelittle.

The blue carpet look that stole everyone’s attention is actually from Korean suit designer, JimmyTheTailor. The suits are made of silk tafetta, a heavily structured material usually associated with wedding gowns. Its shiny appearance risks gaudy reflection when hundreds of flashes are around you, and let’s not talk about risking matching the carpet. Somehow, though, our trio was able to pull it off. Tasha and Tiger’s matching suits take couple outfits to a much classier level, and each of their looks reflects their individuality with such subtlety (JK’s hat resonates Johnny Depp, an actor he admires). What tops the outfit is the excellent slim fitting. Suit jackets are never meant to squeeze at the bust and suit pants should be fitted to maximize a flattering look. So kudos to Eelittle for giving MFBTY possibly the most memorable blue carpet look for the night.

The performance of “Get It In” and “Sweet Dream,” saw a quick wardrobe change. While Bizzy remained in his suit (ever had to perform in structured non-sweat wickering fabric? Brave man), Tasha was next seen wearing a classy lace faux cut out jumpsuit from Gucci Fall 2013This was apparently her personal pick and actually reflects how highly she values comfort. Tiger, however, chose an interesting true-to-himself ensemble for the Gala performance. Docked in a long wool coat and the same Johnny Depp hat, Tiger rocked an MLK t-shirt and sweatpants underneath. The outfit on paper sounds insane for an event of prestige, but it worked only because it’s Tiger.

[news] Yoon Mi Rae, brightens up LA night with Tiger JK, Go Soo, and Han Ji Min

unforgettable event

Yoon Mi Rae was invited to KoreAm/Audrey Magazine’s annual Unforgettable awards ceremony held on December 5th at the Park Plaza Hotel in LA. She was joined by fellow MBFTY crew members, Tiger JK and Bizzy.

This annual event, sponsored by US London Trust Media (LTM) brings successful Asian-Americans from all walks of life ( entertainment, journalism and sports) and recognizes them for their achievements.

Psy, Actor Sandra Oh, and golfer, Park Se Ri, were some of the people who attended previous ceremonies. This year, baseball player Park Chan Ho, actor John Cho, and Youtube Sensation David Choi were present.

Yoon Mi Rae was nominated for “Best Global Artist” and attended with her crew members, Tiger JK and Bizzy.

Actors Go Soo and Han Ji Min were nominated for being actors with high expectations in 2015.

Singer G.na along with DJ Smells performed on stage and got a positive response, but it was Yoon Mi Rae that stole the night. Being invited 2 years in a row, there was media frenzy whilst she was performing on stage.

Yoon Mi Rae, is due to come back on stage with her new single, “Angel,” with Tiger JK and Bizzy featuring on the track.

Side Note: We were tweeting reports and photos as the night progressed. See photos here.

[show] Yoon MiRae to perform at KoreAm/Audrey Magazine’s Unforgettable 2014 Gala in LA

KoreAm & Audrey Magazine’s joint end of year gala, “Unforgettable,” boasts of some impressive guests from the Asian-American scene. Our trio were their headlining act last year, but the event is sending us back in time, as this year will mark the first time Yoon MiRae will perform solo in nearly 10 years. However, the sight will only be visible to the privileged and lucky. For those unfamiliar with these type of events, they are red carpet events where they award and showcase some high profile folks. It also has a fundraising twist to it, so tickets can get pricey. A pair of tickets for this one will run you $1000. We don’t know if there are any fans that adventurous (because at that price, you could probably get a roundtrip to Korea), but email us for purchase details if you have the disposable income to throw down. After all, $1000 does get you a great performance line up and a nice 3-course meal.

When: Friday, December 5, 2014 @ 5 p.m.
Where: The Legendary Park Plaza Hotel
607 South Park View Street
Los Angeles, CA 90057
