[MV] Feel Ghood Music Secretly Drops Tiger JK’s new MV “I Know”

On  July 1st, TigerJK tweeted a teaser promo photo for his new single, “I Know,” marking July 2nd as its release date. Only a mere hours later, FeelGhoodMusic felt 24 hours was too long and dropped the music video early as a treat.

“I Know” takes on a different format from a traditional MV, appearing more like a webisode and only including part of the song. In the video, we see TigerJK peacefully reading at a bus stop when two thugs (Bizzy & Dino) suddenly kidnap him and stuff him into a car trunk. TigerJK raps his verses while trapped inside, his verses standing in for his screams.

The full song will still drop on Itunes and other download sites tomorrow, July 2nd.

[news] Tiger JK’s “Nice To See You Again” MV Scenes Explained

[From NaverMusic]

Feel Ghood Music’s CEO, a member of hybrid group MFBTY, Drunken Tiger. He goes by many different names. He is Tiger JK, known for his charismatic stage presence as well as his articulate lyricism and storytelling abilities. He has returned with his new single “Nice To See You Again (반가워요)” working alongside Lumpens as a co-director.

Tiger JK participated in the production, shooting of the MV, as well as writing and composing the track itself. Although he did face some concerns from his work colleagues, he stayed with his original concept. He worked on the storyboard, artistic direction, and set contruction so that it portrayed the exact emotions and circumstances he wanted to show on screen.

Tiger JK’s Love Letter – 반가워요 (Ban Ga Wuh Yo – Nice To See You Again)

tigerjk fanletter nice to meet you

This track was made to reminisce about his long time fans, like a musical present to say thank you for sticking by his side.

It is also to reflect on the changes that we faced and the solitude that we feel from the current environment we live in. “Nice To See You Again” reaches out to those fans, who are a little bit older than they used to be (and may even have kids of their own who may enjoy Tiger JK’s music also).

This track has a soulful bass line as well as a bluesy guitar and piano lines. It is interesting to note he has utilized lyrics from his earlier tracks such as “Do You Know Hip Hop” “I Want You,” and “Good Life,” indicating that he is waving his hands to his loyal fans who used to be active in his Korean fanclub, Tiger Balm (www.dt-love.co.kr). This track may sounds like a love song to the younger crowd whereas for the slightly older folks, this may come across as more of a reunion with an old friend where you may feel a bit of awkwardness and happiness at the same time.

“Nice To See You Again” is a greeting to his old fans that still remember and support Tiger JK. It will be interesting to see what kinds of other musical gifts he will come bearing next time around.

Scene 1: Who’s that dude with a boombox and a megaphone walking around in UiJeongBu?

nicetoseeyou1

Within the busy main strip of EuJeongBu, Tiger JK is seen walking around in casual clothes, equipped with a boombox (won from his claw game adventures), portable disco light, and a megaphone. There are murmurs and whispers and before you know it, people were taking photographs and uploading them to their social media account stating that Tiger JK appeared in UiJeongBu. If anyone was there and felt shy to say hello to him, please feel free to put your hands up when you see him next time!

Scene 2 Director Tiger, There is no such thing as an impossible task!

nicetoseeyou2

With Director Tiger in charge, it was very hard to predict what was going to happen next. When he saw a sky lift while walking around, he asked the owner whether he can go on it and shoot a couple of scenes in it. Tiger JK poured a lot of energy and emotions into each scene like a true professional. Thank you to the owner of the sky lift who allowed Tiger JK to go on it!

Scene 3 Location booking failed, so where to shoot now?

Tiger JK really wanted to hire a location such as a run down motel room or a hostel room in UiJeongBu. However, all the rooms looked ‘too new’ and wasn’t to Tiger JK’s liking. So what does he do? He makes his own room! And it looks like…

nicetoseeyou3

This is one corner from his Feel Ghood Music’s head office. Tiger JK moved all the furniture that was originally there out of the scene. He then placed a vintage TV, a broken refrigerator, and a skill tester machine to set up the perfect scenery for his music video.

We see writing on the walls, a makeshift bed, a stand, a chair, a table, mufflers hanging on the wall, photos as well as portable burners, these items were all obtained by Tiger JK. Don’t miss his “pet dog” hiding in the corner.

[Official Translation] Tiger JK’s “Nice To See You Again”

Feel Ghood Music has released the official translation for Tiger JK’s “Nice To See You Again.” There were a few subtle old school Drunken Tiger homages. Did you catch them all?

Verse 1)

Thought forever meant infinite times
but forever was something that lasted long enough to become our past,
and it went fast
We promised that our love would never fade
And that wasn’t a lie
You told me I’m the only one you’ll ever love.
You would nod your head to my heartbeat to let me know it’s true.
Somewhere in your mind full of thoughts racing,
you always found a spot to scribble my name
Thought forever meant infinite times but forever was something that lasted long enough to become our past,
and it went fast

Chorus
Do you think of me at times
Do you smile thinking about back when?
do you miss me now
did you miss me

(x2)

Nice to see you again,
how you been
Do you remember me?
Good to see you,
it’s been a minute
Do you remember?

Verse2)

Don’t you ever compare our love to them comets,
just a little spark, quickly vanishing lights, we ain’t like them other fools in lust that got caught up for a hot second.
We used to point them out and question their love like what do you know?
Those times we would hear ‘you and you WACK’ [DT1- “Do You Know Hip-Hop?”]
I still see it in your eyes
I am the one and only
I am your number one. [DT1- “I Want You”]
Many drunken nights
And drunken fights [DT3-“Good Life”]
Love , friendship , and we become one.

Chorus
Do you think of me at times
Do you smile thinking about back when?
do you miss me now
did you miss me

(x2)

Nice to see you again,
how you been
Do you remember me?
Good to see you,
it’s been a minute
Do you remember?

Bridge)

Love was real
I still have your love letter that you sent me
You wrote “To my dear I will always love you … Forever ”

[MV] TIGER JK Releases Single “Good To See You Again;” Explains All His Instagram Posts

After the colorful time travel piece that was MFBTY’s “BangDiggyBangBang,” the drop of Tiger JK’s newest single “Good To See You Again,” comes as a complete 180 to fans. The bluesy single is a love song with references dedicated to Tiger JK’s fans, but the music video does not take on the traditional love song video formula.

The simple video takes viewers through Tiger JK’s Uijeongbu neighborhood, all areas he cites as places that are part of his everyday life. We also see a vision board and flashbacks of his career highlights, a special trip down memory line for fans.

However, what fans may be shocked to see are the spliced dream sequences that take JK through different, sometimes questionable, adventures. When asked why he made such a video, JK stated he wanted to show fans a realistic reflection of both himself and situations that do happen in real life.

Long time fans of JK know that he is no stranger to keeping things simple. In the past week, JK posted a series of old photos (see here and here) showing how he used to rock shows. In one photo, he shares:

Tiger JK couldn’t afford stage clothes and didn’t give a F. Just walked up to the TV shows and performed. All I needed was a mic and my rhymes.”

His low budget MVs are signature to him, showing after all the fame, he is a simple guy who does not live the flashy celebrity life. “Good To See You Again” the MV is a time trip for his loyal fans, while also showing how his down to Earth personality has not changed.

[news] TigerJK to Drop New Single “Nice To See You Again” On June 16th

Today, June 15th, it was unexpectedly announced that JK would drop a new single, without the other MFBTY members, on June 16th.

The song, “Nice To See You Again,” is a letter to JK’s fans who have supported him since his career started, particularly his Korean fan club, Tigerbalm. The cover photo dated 05/03/1999 is a photo he took in Los Angeles, while he was preparing for his second album, “The Great Rebirth.”

In the past week, JK had released a series of old photos with messages such as “Tigerbalm, love.” JK was also seen filming questionable solo scenes in the Uijeongbu neighborhood. It is now confirmed that this was connected to the “Nice To Meet You” single.

While Tiger JK has dropped a few lighter themed OST singles this year, it has been 6 years (his 8th album) since JK has released a track that was only him.

Jeon InKwon on Tiger JK: “When I First Met Him, I Thought He Was A Beggar;” Collab With Lee MoonSeh

YHY6th
LeeMoon Seh, CNBlue YongHwa, JeonInKwon, Tiger JK on YHYSketchbook

Tonight marks the 6th anniversary of renowned live entertainment show, YooHeeYeol Sketchbook. Many of Yoo’s colleagues came to perform for the event, giving audiences a rare opportunity to see some of the greats collaborate on stage together.

Tiger JK came on stage with JeonInKwon, who collaborated with MFBTY on their song, “Love and Peace.” Tiger reminisced about the first time he saw JeonInKwon live, “I felt so alive at his concert. Being on stage with him today is like a dream come true.”

The audience was amazed how the two came together for a song. Yoo then asked Tiger why he wanted to collab with Jeon, to which Tiger simply replied, “His voice has so much raw soul.”

Jeon admitted than when he first met Tiger, he thought Tiger was a beggar. This caused the audience to erupt in laughter. Jeon continued, “However, it’s hard to meet cool people in Korea like him, and he was very cool. He is extremely talented.”

Backstage, Tiger JK also met LeeMoonSeh, a veteran R&B musician and TV personality. Lee MoonSeh took this as an opportunity to talk to JK about collaborating with Tasha. He is a fan of Tasha’s raw R&B/hip-hop sound and proposed a song together would produce a unique track. Tiger JK agreed and both look forward to making the collab happen.

Yoo HeeYeol Sketchbook airs tonight May 8th, 11:55PM on KBS 2TV.

[news] Rapper San E: “When I Was Younger, I Dreamed of Being Tiger JK”

While talking about his childhood on YooHeeYeol Sketchbook, rapper San E admitted that he wanted to be like Tiger JK growing up.

When San E first explored how to rap, he stated that when he moved to the US, he was told by his parents to learn to rap fast in English and not use Korean.

Coincidentally around that time, his Korean-American friends gave him Drunken Tiger’s 2nd album. It had been so long since he had listened to Korean music and he found himself enjoying the album a lot. Because of this, he got into Korean music again.

Host Yoo Hee Yeol asked if San E ever met Tiger JK. San-E replied, “I did, and I said to him, ‘Hyung, I was a kid who grew up listening to you, and look at me now.’ He then gave me the coolest hug.”

[interview] Tiger JK: “Hip-Hop Comes First Before Business”

[interview by Ten24]

It’d be hard to find someone other than Tiger JK to fit the title “Korean Hiphop godfather.” Debuting in 1995 with his solo track, ‘Enter the Tiger, then as Drunken Tiger, and now part of his crew MFBTY, Tiger has taken on many forms since his debut.

Tiger JK has traveled on a wonderful musical journey spanning over the past 20 years. He’s witnessed Korea transforming from a hip-hop no-mans land into a country that accepts it with open arms and embrace it, Tiger JK has been through it all and made his mark in Korean Hiphop’s history. Although his age may be slighter higher than some of the other rappers on the scene, his passion and his love for hiphop cannot be superseded by anyone.

jkangelsingle
There is no other person fitting for the title of Korean hip-hop’s Godfather.

The interviewer was curious about Tiger JK. His music, life, and his interpretation of Wondaland. Meeting with Tiger JK was not easy to facilitate. Due to his shy personality and his preference to stay away from interviews, the interviewer was finally able to meet with him after a long wait.

Tiger JK definitely had a natural presence with his charisma. It did not take long for my misconceptions about him to fly out the window. With his corny punchlines such as “Without MiRae, we have no future,” he joked throughout the interview with his witty remarks.

Between all the jokes, Tiger JK expressed his love for his wife, his son Jordan, and the project group, MFBTY. He said “I’m a fool for MiRae, Jordan and people.” However, when it came to music, his tone changed into a serious note. “We are getting love from fans around the world, especially since our album Wondaland released about a month ago.” Although he advised he is getting inquiries about possible overseas concerts, he said, “There are good opportunities for us to earn good money, but shouldn’t the performance and our stage quality be the first priority?” In true Tiger JK style, he still did not want to compromise.

“Yoon Mi Rae? She’s a world-class rapper”

His love for Yoon Mi Rae was second to none. There was also the love for hip-hop blended into it as well. Tiger JK respects Yoon Mi Rae as an artist.

“Mi Rae is seriously a world class rapper. On top of her rapping skills, her lyricism is just mind blowing,” he says while putting his thumb up. However, when it came to actually saying this out loud, he was clearly shy to do so. This was evident in his recent TV appearance on Happy Together 3 Lovers Special where Tiger JK had to make a call to Mi Rae to get her to say a code word. During this phone conversation, Tiger JK struggled to say lovey-dovey words. Reflecting on this, he stated “After that show aired, Mirae had a word with me. I really should’ve gave her the heads up before I made the phone call…”

tashajkhappytogether
JK fails to make Tasha say, “I miss you” during the Happy Together code word challenge

Tiger JK also spoke about his son Jordan and his musical ability, shown in the track enlisted in Wondaland Album ‘Fart Dance’, which Jordan composed all by himself whilst thinking that it was a game. Tiger JK said that if Jordan wanted to pursue music as his career, he was not going to hold him back. “When I listen to Fart Dance, I really believe he is a musical genius. I know he is going to be great. (smiling) However when it comes to a point where I have a critically analyze his musical ability without any biased opinions, I am prepared to do so if need be.”

familyensemble
“Without MiRae, we’d have no future. If Jordan wants to do music, I will not be biased in my criticisms.”

Rapper Tiger JK – a fool with a reason

Tiger JK and Yoon Mi Rae had their humble abode set in UiJeongBu even before they were married. Unlike popular artists setting their nests around the Gangnam area, the hip hop-couple even had their recording studio set up in city-suburban town. This is also the place where MFBTY’s first full album Wondaland was produced. The interviewer was curious about the reasons as to why Tiger JK insisted on staying at UiJeongBu.

“I love the life UiJeongBu. It’s comfortable and awesome. It’s like heaven. This is where MiRae grew up, and I want to live where she feels comfortable.”

His employees & staff members sacrificed a bit due to Tiger JK insisting on staying in UiJeongBu. However, he did not let this one go unnoticed. Bizzy and all of his staff now now reside in UiJeongBu, and he took care of everyone’s rent. For him, they were family – not just employees.

Due to his 20-year anniversary and Wondaland’s success coincidentally happening all at once, he admitted he is continuously receiving invitations for performances especially overseas. With his strong rapport around the world, Tiger JK has the power to negotiate and agree to a more lucrative deal, but Tiger JK refuses to do this. “I am not the type to ask favors on a business level. It is true that we are receiving a lot of offers, but we want to provide a good performance where the music comes first. I didn’t even realize this but apparently it’s been 20 years since my debut. It’s that long ago? I can’t remember when that was. I think it’ll be a great idea to have a meaningful event for our fans. I would want to meet them on a more personal level.”
